Roche Diagnostics aims to advance healthcare system in Africa

In its drive to build an advance healthcare systems in Africa, Roche Diagnostics says it’s Partnership with African Society for Laboratory Medicines (ASLM)2018 is in continuation of its resolve to be in a position to prevent and control the next pandemic in the continent.

Roche Diagnostics Acting General Manager and Head of Management Central and South Africa, Duncan Mackay made this known in a press briefing in Abuja on Monday.

He said that the partnership with ASLM 2018 fourth Biennial International Conference in Abuja was ideal as the conference is an important step in building and advancing healthcare systems with a focus on the “Role of the Laboratory.”

Roche Diagnostics Country Head for Nigeria, Taofik Oloruko-Oba during the press briefing said the company’s solutions are produced to have direct positive impact on health and lives of millions of people across the world.

Oloruko-Oba also disclosed that the prevalence of Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in Nigeria is 11% which implies that there are almost 19 million Nigerians infected with Hepatitis B (HBV).

He however emphasized that the Roche Diagnostic solutions are designed for screening, diagnosis, treatment and treatment monitoring which are the basic requirement for everyone who is infected.

The company added that it is committed to supporting the improvement of the health care system in Africa and will continue to partner with organisations that have related objectives.
