President Muhammadu Buhari condemns killings promises major military operation in Zamfara

The killing of innocent Nigerians in Birnin Magaji and Magami communities in Tsafe and Maradun local government areas of Zamfara state by suspected bandits has been condemned by President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement released on Monday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu in Abuja, President Buhari hinted of a major operation by the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Police, Department of State Services and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, to restore peace and stability to affected areas.

The President while describing the killings as horrendous acts of violence and a crime against humanity expressed his deepest condolences to the families of those killed in the attacks, the government and people of Zamfara, and also wished those injured a speedy recovery.

According to the statement, President Buhari also authorised an assessment trip to Zamfara and Sokoto states by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Abubakar Sadiq, on Christmas and Boxing days.
