NDLEA BOSS BUBA MARWA WARNS REPS AGAINST LEGALIZING CANNABIS

Stakeholders pushing for the legalization of Cannabis in Nigeria have been warned that going ahead with such plans will rob Nigeria of the gains so far recorded in the renewed war against drug abuse and trafficking in the country.

Buba Marwa, who is the Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency -NDLEA gave this warning in his address at the Special Security Summit organized by the house of representatives held today in Abuja.

The NDLEA boss while giving his address made it known that the current figure of 10.6 million drug abusers in the country is enough to sound the alarm bell and reiterated that the relationship between substance abuse and crime is a fact.

Marwa also used the occasion to warn the rep members against legalizing the free use of cannabis as such would turn the country into a nation of junkies and criminals he said.
