The Senate has mandated its Committee on Police Affairs to investigate the alleged assassination attempt on the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and members of his family.
Ekweremadu’s home in Abuja was allegedly invaded by gun men in the early hours of Tuesday.
The Deputy Senate President while narrating his ordeal later at plenary said one of the attackers was arrested.
Reacting to the story, President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, while criticising the Nigeria Police for their alleged late response to Ekweremadu’s emergency calls, has asked the Senate committee to follow up on the investigations by the police.
